Poole council have solved that - build shoddy flats (out of concrete and bricks...) without enough parking places and call it "eco-housing". They make money from parking enforcement so it's win-win.

Apparently after 14 metres of sea level rise this house will still be here, and it's about 30 minutes walk to the sea.

Apparently those shoddy flats get wiped out at +1m. Aww... Maybe we'll get the view back.

One of the things that hasn't been mentioned in all this is the actions of many hill farmers. In order to drain their high sloping fields, they often dig trenches almost vertically down the slope....

Therefore instead of the rainfall trickling slowly from the hills........it arrives in the valleys as a flash flood. Multiply this by a factor of 1000 and you get the idea.

But upper river management really is the answer here. Once it gets down stream in such quantities, there's nothing that can be done.
