I saw this in our local rag and had to smile....

"...THE chairwoman of Brampton chamber of trade has been banned from driving after notching up 21 points on her licence for speeding.
Linda Harmer-Jones, 48, who runs The Box Room in Brampton’s Market Place, already had 15 points on her licence when she was caught speeding on the A6071 at The Sands.
The Hallbankgate parish councillor and school governor, who lives at Farlam Ghyll, admitted speeding at 54mph in a 30mph zone on March 14 and was banned from the roads for six months yesterday...."
There is more detail in the article (including a defence by a solicitor who I wouldn't want defending me on a similar charge)!
I'm curious how she was still driving with 15 points anyway?
Still, while I obviously feel sorry for her, (a bit anyway - 54 in a 30 is probably pushing it somewhat!), this kind of thing is, I think, all to the good. The more "ordinary" high profile "pillars of the community" who get done (whilst at the same time failing to make any appreciable imact on KSIs WHATSOEVER), the better. Hopefully it will only be a matter of time before the general public see the current enforcement practices for what they are!
