On the occasion of my 68th birthday I've just received a nice message from Shropshire:

"Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday dear Ratbag
Happy Birthday to you."

Many thanks Rigpig. :D

Best wishes all,
Dave.

BTW, just in case anybody's in doubt, that's meant to be humorous. One needs to be so careful these days.

That's a very oblique way of tarting for birthday wishes! :)

Happy birthday - have a good 'un!

Can't have been from me.

I wouldn't have used the word 'ratbag'; its far too much of a senior citizen type of a word

But may all your outward journeys involve happy returns all of the year :drink:

Happy Birthday Dave!! :-)

And many thanks... You've made me feel that I'm rather less of an old codger. :-)

Happy birthday Dave. Planning on a spirited drive around the wilds of North Yorkshire? :steering: Or won't that be possible? :drink2: Have a good 'un whatever. 8-)

Must have been RobinXe then, although I have absolutely no idea how old he is. ;)

(Sorry, I'm sounding as creepily obsessive as a certain other person, mentioning RobinXe when no-one else has and he hasn't posted.... :yikes: It was the Shropshire reference, m'lud! :judge:)

Thanks. I know it's a bit sneaky but I felt in need of a group hug, and I reckoned I could rely on one or two of you.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Rigpig - that is a very nice sentiment indeed, thank you. I'll try to operate in accordance with that.

BTW, be patient about the 'senior citizen' bit; you'll get there in due course - safely and contendly, I hope.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

We can joke about being old codgers etc. as much as we like, just so long as it does remain humorous. I can't cope with being serious all the time.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Thanks. We'll be out this evening at Ellerby - just down the road from where Oscar lives - hello Oscar - but we've got a good deal of wet snow arriving at the moment, so that might constrain things a bit.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Thanks, but I don't suppose the snow will provide much fun; it's all wet stuff so far - and the car is FWD. :(

Best wishes all,
Dave.

You are as young as you feel! I do not feel much different to the boy who went to study medicine and then fell in love with an even more pistonheaded wench who knows :yikes: how to use a wrench on a a car...

Many Happy Returns and Lots of Safe Driving to enjoy... .. but Handy Free of course

OK folks, just to tidy this up:

Many thanks to all of you for your kind greetings, even they were not exactly unsolicited.

Oscar - yes I'd still like to meet up sometime, when you've completed your recovery. Just let me know when you're ready.

Zamzara - belated greetings to you too, 28 indeed. I was 28 when I acquired my first Jaguar - the 3.8 Mark 2 saloon. Those were good days, but there have been lots since.

Ted & Vrenchen - thanks to you too, even though you keep nagging me about mobile phones. Actually it gets very little use these days, so I don't think it's much of a problem.

Mr .glf - yes, all in favour of another run out together. It's been almost two years since last time, but I can still remember most of the things you grumbled about. No matter, I've made some adjustments so I hope you'll be a little less underwhelmed next time.

Botach - we still like Ellerby and we go there quite often. Maybe we should have an ADUK type of driving day based around that general area, and rope in Oscar and Mr .glf as well. If anybody supports the idea, just let me know.

R1Nut - a belated thanks for your greetings, too.

Take care, and best wishes each,
Dave.
