Quote:

Means -

According to witnesses the ambulance on full blues/twos was travelling along the traffic -calmed area of Elisenbrunnen

Quote:

For no apparent reason the cyclist suddenly swerved out into the centre of the road way.. into path of ambulance. He died.

Quote:

Driver in severe shock und need counselling. As do the witnesses to all this;
Area more or less pedetrianised
Quote:

Scene closed off for investigation.

cyclist identified later as aged 37. Very sadly he only identified when a neighbour recognise the bicycle on the news.

Reader comments to these pieces are not exactly supportive of cyclist.

Perhaps he listening to iPod or something... :scratchchin: Everyone else moved away from the ambulance as it made way down the road. It would not have been "speeding".

Area more or less pedestrianised but buses can chunter up und down.

Maybe lulled into sense of false security because "traffic rare"? :scratchchin:

iPod? Or was he deaf?

I know a driver who is deaf. He's a good driver but I am not sure he would hear sirens.

Two of my brothers are deaf/hard of hearing. Both drive. Their obs are almost second to none.

One I would happily travel with as a passenger, the other is on a needs must basis. It is not that the second brother is a bad driver. It is that he can become distracted by visual cues both inside and outside of the vehicle sometimes.

It's the compensation theory I suppose.
