Hello all,

I'm here for one reason, my solicitor say's I've no case...However! he has contacted the Sergeant regarding my family to build a case asked for a letter - the Sergeant say's that he wouldn't as he's also the prosecutor in the same court house, which he'll be the one procuteing me

It was 5:30am dark and dry met two car's on my 12 mile travel -

I was about 800 yards out of town when I noticed a car behind me flying thru the town flashing the headlights about 1 mile behind. The lights were being flashed every so often! *Note: not left to right flashing*

Two weeks before this my brother was beat up and his car burnt out, a week after that my 65 year old father *with heart problems* was attacked and given a black eye which ended up bleeding and heart pain thru out the night.

So when I seen this car behind me I was very scared putting my car into high speed (120-135 mph) after travelling ten miles I had to slow down for a quick turn off which the car behind caught up with me. I was more relieved than anything to see it was the cops in a well marked car.

I was stopped and asked for speed which I did not give. A few moments later I asked the Sergeant why travel so far when he could have stopped me using blue lights ten miles back, his reply was that

Now to me he was breaking the law regarding public safety

I'll also add the reason why! they were trying to stop me was that I slowed down at a twon aroundabout and put my foot down, I would'nt have been going any faster than 35 after putting the foot down.

My court case is tomorrow.

N.b I have taken photo's of my bothers car and also my father's eye.... would this also help me?

I’d say you’ve left it all a bit late, as your court case is tomorrow.

There are members of the police who post on this site who might help, but they don’t post that frequent. I’m not up on the law but would recommend you post the above on this website PePiPoo there are people on that site with more knowledge of motoring law. Whether you will get a quick reply I’m not sure. Good luck in court tomorrow.

I would have thought that a BiB-mobile, having developed such a serious operational fault, should have been returned to garage for repair - I don't know, but it would seem logical. Your VIN and description should, maybe, have been passed to control for issue to a fully-capable unit if they wanted to check you for some reason.
My advice to you for future reference is, if you feel you are being pursued by another motorist whose intent seems aggressive or threatening, head for the nearest Police Station, drive onto the premises and ask for help. Failing that, do your best to find a marked patrol car and attract the attention of the officers using your horn and lights. Tearing off at high speed is not the best course of action as, even if your pursuers are scrotes, you will still be done for excessive use of speed and very probably dangerous driving.

Thats not productive SDC3. We welcome new posters, particularly those with broadly opposing viepoints however, if you intend to jump in, feet first, with unproductive, inflamatory jibes then you should expect to be given short shrift.

If I read this correctly, you traveled for 10 miles at around 120-135 mph on a single-carriageway road? I presume single-carriageway because of the quick turn off, but I know some DCs have these. Either way, SC or DC, these speeds aren't safe and I can't see that you have any chance of using being scared as a defense. Why not slow down, see if the vehicle passes you and if not, then (as someone else suggested) head to a populated place / police station?

135mph is nearly double the speed limit for motorways. Whilst I sympathise with people caught a few mph over the limit in safe conditions, I can't think of many situations where this speed sustained over 10 miles could ever be safe.

Disregarding his other posts, it could be a contributing factor. If someone in my family had upset someone that badly that I was in fear for my life then I wouldn't consider it overreaction to get away from a vehicle behaving threateningly in any way I could.

Family aren't bad. My brother was walking out from a fast food takeaway the lads jumped him must have been after the key's not sure we'll never know why! either. *A week later and the cops were still doing nothing* My father went to town to see if he could find out more so he could point out the lads to the cops.

Regarding the comment about letting them pass me! they were flashing lights at me Please refer to the Op (my self) concern am sure it states it somewhere.

However! I was given three points and £100 fine. Which am not very happy with. However! It could have been a lot worse I may not be here today if it had not have been the cops that morning, so am very grateful that I did not lose my life.

3 points and £100 fine? Did the cops actually manage to clock your speed? If they did then you got a sympthetic magistrate giving you a token punishment and I'd be very happy with that result. People have gone to prison for those speeds.

Must agree with Nos4R2 there - you got off lightly mate!

Hopefully you'll bear in mind the advice offered by us if this ever crops up again.
