A cyclist has died following a collision with an Audi A4 car on the B4455 Fosse Way near to Wolston.

The collision took place this morning (Wednesday 27 February) at shortly after 6am. The cyclist, a male aged 34, had been travelling along Coal pitt Lane from the direction of Lawford Heath. He was taken to the University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire but was declared dead on arrival.

The driver of the silver Audi A4, a 32 year old male, was shocked but not injured in the collision.The car had been travelling south on the Fosse way from the direction of Bretford.

The Fosse Way was closed at the junction with the A45 and at the junction with the A428 for collision investigators to examine the scene. It was re-opened at approximately 10.45am.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision, or anyone who saw the Audi A4 and the pedal cyclist prior to the collision taking place. Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC Ian Jamieson at the Coleshill Traffic Base on 01926 415415.

Mr Fox died when his bicycle was in collision with an Audi A4 shortly before 06.15hrs.

He leaves a widow, Clare, and two children.

Mrs Fox said that her husband would be "sadly missed by all".

Sorry to read this... condolences -sincerely - to all involved in case they happen on this site.

genuine accident.. or an error on the part of one or both..

Regardless - a life sentence for each family.

I do not know what the weather was like in that area at the time. We had a nasty frost here on that morning. Perhap weather conditions, breaking dawn.. were factors?


I am sure accident investigators will determine cause.. but whatever the cause.. justice must take precedence over revenge.
