Any road tax rise will be on Band G only as there are too many "normal" cars in Band F ( = Vote Loser).

Band G was introduced only for new vehicles in 2006 to avoid poorer families with older bigger cars being clobbered ( = Vote Loser).

All these "green taxes" are blatently political statements rather than the actual beliefs of the people thinking them up. This is why I am keeping my 3 year old Band F sportscar rather than changing it. Sod the hypocrites who get the Government Car Service to buy Prius's and then use contract car services with Mercs instead!

Band G is >225G/Km and includes all cars worth owning. :)

I am thinking about complaining abou the met office site.
http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/corporate/pressoffice/myths/index.html

Quote:
The Met Office recognises that climate change is a complex subject. There are genuine areas of uncertainty and scientific controversy. There are also a number of misunderstandings and myths which are recycled, often by non-climate scientists, and portrayed as scientific fact.

Most of the "myths" covered by that web page are views expressed by bona-fide climate scientists. To call them "myths" is a deliberate attempt to ridicule their work.

Despite this list looking bad enough already, I hate to point out that you've still got

VAT (5%) on electricity
VAT (5%) on Gas
17.5% on Water
VAT on Petrol
VAT on Food
VAT on 'luxury' items such as clothing, games, dvds, music, books, computers, paper, computer supplies
VAT on Internet access
VAT on phone bill
Insurance Tax
VAT on Insurance (or is there ?)
And last but not least... NIC (essentially another 11% tax if payroll, 8% if self employed - I believe)

Anything been missed? That's a disgrace to look at

The politics of envy or what?

Several car companies, including BMW, have said that if this happens, they will cease production and sales in this country of 'prestige' marques owned by them.
As a result, Eyebrow Boy has said that the move will be reviewed again in a year's time.

Alastair Darling....PWNED!

I'd like to point out that you're paying the fuel VAT on the tax as well as the fuel price.
I'd also like to point out that the VAT cannot be reduced to less than 5%, if you have VAT on anything the minimum it can be reduced to/be is 5% (EU)
After all that It may be prudent to also point out that the PM (ex Chan) is also talking about ending benefits and introducing forced [as far as it can be] community work. So, you are also paying tax to provide support if you become ill/unemployed, but will be forced to work, even if unable to, so your NI will be for nothing in effect.

56 years after it was decided it was needed, the Bedford Bypass is nearing completion. The last single carriageway length of it.We have the most photogenic mayor though, always being photographed doing nothing
