IG- problem is that today cars are not cars as we knew them - moggy 1000/wolsely 1500 ---OK on flat - needed skill on corners - and today that skill has gone away . Todays roads - no nasty bends , bad cambers --I learned to drive in the Highlands - one mistake ,was one to many - you found the ditch .
These people are still trying to acquire the skills we learned as kids -and yours were furthered by Hendon ( to my admiration).

But today - the yoof have not got to learn the skills we had to as learners.

One example - lad from our village went to Newcastle /Durham trafic . (Incidentally he died trying to rescue a jumper on the Tyne Bridge ) ---was accepted because of his road skills - learnt on our local roads .
