i have recently been caught on the westway for doing 45mph on which i thought was a 40mph spped limit, but apparently, the camera which caught me rekons it is a 30mph speed limit. i have checked the speed limit and it is a 40mph speed limit. if the camera which caught me has misprinted the speed limit, then the fine is invalid. but the camera which caught me was a mobile police laser camera and was not visible at the scene where i was caught. i have checked the rules and it says that these cameras have to be visible and clear and the police men holding the camera should be wearing high vis jackets. i don't know where i stand in my case, has this happened to anyone before?

The speed limit on the Marylebone flyover (i.e. the part that flies over the A5 and where if you are going Westbound you can leave shortly after to get onto the A404) is 30mph. Then it goes up to 50mph and remains at that limit until after the A219 junction (where it stops being a flyover) and goes down to 40mph. It remains 40mph until you approach the junction with Argyll Road (B452 I think).

The crazy thing is that, heading Westbound, the road is totally not built-up once you come out of the Hanger Lane underpass so the speed limit could easily go up to 50mph, but on the approach to Argyll Road, clearly a built-up slip-road and approaching a junction, the speed limit is now 50mph.

Which way were you heading, Eastbound or Westbound? I'd be interested to know where this "hidden" camera is. I haven't seen any of the little white markings on that road.
