- stop travelling thousands of miles by air to conferences about reducing carbon emissions?
- give up their Government provided Jags and use the tube?

I should think the lack of electricity supply in 15 years time in the UK (resulting from the dithering about nuclear power and the lack of forward planning) will be great if you have a plug-in hybrid to recharge.

Once again, the lie about higher road taxes for the highest polluting vehicles is spun. The VED changes are a tax on ownership not pollution output.


Benefit in the long term,eh? I'd like to know how. You mean the long term where we sit in the cold and dark being warmed by the knowledge that our CO2 emissions are the lowest in the world.

Quite right Hairyben. There is a tramp around here who is fed by our local Supermarket ......(I suspect that he eats better, ...and cheaper, than WE do!).............

The Supermarket is where the main bulk of wasted food is thrown away........Tons apon tons...every week!

Surely you mean the portions are half as much as a normal person would eat. A meal for two is about enough for one. Just one of the reasons I don't buy them.

Please tell me which shops you go in so I can buy their reasonably-sized ready meals.

All the ones I visit offer ready meals for one which are 500-550g in weight and contain 800+ calories. That is far too much for one person.

The idea that shops and restaurants are applying "portion control" leading to titchy meals belongs in the 1970s.

I can only conclude you must be an exceptionally greedy person.

PeterE the Tesco ready meals for one are generally < 500 calories (not enough imo) and are definitely for one only. I'm basing this on what I currenlty have in my fridge

Sausages + Mash - 500g 665 Calories (the most, but it has sausage in it so to be expected)
Sheperds Pie - 500g 375 Calories
Braised Lamb + Mash - 500g and 475 calories
Lasagne - 400g (I think) and around 350 calories (ate it yesterday so no box to check)

Depends which ready meals you buy I guess

I used to eat fish and chips.
But the fish is endangered, so my sense of ecological urgency suggests I stop eating fish. In any case, its expensive.
The chips are now frozen then fried. I hate them.
Macky-D is crowded, I hate queues.
KFC is crowded, I hate chicken anyway.
S--------- ready meals are garbage, no salt or fat. Nothing much remains to be eaten.
T------ are ok, but expensive.
In fact, it's cheaper to eat out.
