Does anybody have any reccomendations for password managers.

Downloading promising looking programmes off the net seems about as risky a thing as one could possibly do (Talk about a phishing oppertunity!) so I am looking for personal recomendations here.

How about a flash drive -put your info on a notepad doc ,and save to external flash drive -Tesco doing 1GB about a fiver this weather ,and Asda got some cheap as well.Least that way the onlyu way someone external is going to get access is if they get past you're firewall to the data on you're HDD.

Firefox has a password manager built in - not sure of any concerns over security... I have never heard any.

For memory sticks etc., try these people... http://www.memorybits.co.uk/
I found their prices and service very good.

Problem might be postage - at approx £5 for 1gb , £7 for 2gb ,£10 for 4 and £15 for 8 - Tesco takes a lot of beating and Asda are trying to match them .

That's OK if you have these stores on your doorstep! Tesco in Barrow is a good 40 minute drive each way!

The postage is not much, and is free if a few of you group together!
I only wanted a 2GB micro SD for my son's phone - but managed to sell on a WiFi dongle, BlueTooth dongle and treated my self to a car adaptor for my emergency mobile in the car... total cost £22.

ASDA wanted £22 for the WiFi dongle, £12 for the Bluetooth dongle, and £9.95 for my car adaptor so my friends are grateful for THEIR savings too.

Sorry, I think there is a misunderstanding here.

I already have a notepad file with all the info. I am looking for one of those jobbies that fills in the forms for you without having to scrabble arround for post-it-notes every time I wish to access a site!

(keeping the program and its data, on a memory stick separate from the hard disk is a good idea, if it can be made to work without having to copy itself all over the place (as windows programs are wont to do!))

Not tried either but these are free and meant to be quite good (certainly better than a notepad file!):

http://sourceforge.net/projects/keepass/

http://sourceforge.net/projects/passwordsafe/

or to run from USB stick you can directly use all sorts of software from here :

http://portableapps.com/

in particular:

Have you tried the FIREFOX browser?
It has a password manager built in - and as far as I am aware, it is secure - as long as you observe all sensible precautions - as you should do anyway.

Yeah, the Firefox works well enough.

Personally I hate the idea of password managers. If your computer is ever compromised (and it would appear that you're using IE so it probably already is, sorry), that's a lot of stuff they can get into, how much personal information do these passwords let them access? Don't forget what might be lurking in any webmail accounts you have when evaluating this.

Either remember them, or use an actual physical notepad if this is a home machine. If it's a work machine then you're pretty much stuck with having to remember them.

A couple of suggestions,
AI Roboform (Downloadable here) can keep a small number of passwords and login details for free, if you have a large number you may need to get the next version up which is reasonably priced.
Access Manager (available here) can keep a larger number and is free for personal use.

Both use encryption on your passwords so you need to enter a 'Master' password to unlock the database.
That way, if your computer is compromised/stolen your passwords are safe as long as you've used a good strong password to protect the file.

I think that both of these contain the option of a 'Virtual keyboard' to enter information, so even if there is a keylogger on your system they can't see what you are entering.

Hope that helps?
