How to drive in a fuel-efficient manner

Yes you guessed it, everything else is rushed through then the "stick to the speed limit" message is hammered home, with a degree of repetition.

But this line I love:

And no, I haven't taken this line out of context. It stands in glorious isolation from any qualifying remark.

Does this not depend on the length of the road? If I actually drove on as long a continuous DC as I could from land's End to John O' Groats, would it honestly only save me two minutes if I went 10 mph faster?

What about a stretch of DC that takes one minute at 70? Would that mean you would get there a minute before you left? Spooky!

At least I now know how much respect to award to the rest of their pronouncements on road safety...

I'm sure they follow all their own advice.
I wonder if anyone could check their tire pressures net time they're stopped...

At least ,despite their flawed logig -they got something right -" Finally, stick to the speed limit"

Does the fact that they put it last have any significancein their thought process ??

"breaking"??

Does the Dorset Safety Camera Partnership consist of a bunch of five year olds??? How many mistakes can they make on one web page?

Just done a quick calculation...

At 1.33miles per minute @ 80mph (I think) you save 2 minutes over 70mph every 14 minutes (or just under).
So on a one hour journey you save about 8-9 minutes... it's really not very much to be honest, but on a two hour journey (16-18 minutes) that can be the difference between stopping for a break (and therefore another 20-25 minutes) and getting there in one hit.

It's CO2 - C =CARBON ,O= OXYGEN : therefore 2 must be some new element ,only found in Dorset .QED.

80mph is 14.29% faster than 70mph

ergo you will get to your destination 14.29% quicker.

I'm not sure about you but I think 14.29% is a fairly significant factor. If I could find my company an additional 14.29% margin I'd be in line for a company lear jet.

Today I drove 460 miles.....at 80mph vs 70mph I would have saved myself 46 mins which is not an inconsiderable ammount of time...If i was to be as reckless as to drive at 90mph a whopping 1.5hrs or approx 10% of my waking day. Time I could spend with my son, quality time that i can never reclaim.

oh no....hang on its only 2 minutes saved....silly me.

The ideal goal of a transport system is to transfer you from source to destination in
a negligible amount of time. If it were possible to achieve that, then it wouldn't matter
what type of car you drove, because you would be out of it almost as soon as you got in.

So what would we do then - would it be possible to enjoy driving when it's a 2 minute
wonder? Perhaps we would drive slower cars which are encrusted with gadgets and
have fancy art work?
