I was watching that crash thing on BBC1 on Monday and basicly a lorry driver, just a normal chap, made a mistake at work and 3 people died. I felt really sorry for the guy, I've loaded and unloaded guys like him on numerous occasions, but his mistake at work meant 3 people lost their lives and he got 4 years and banned for 7 years. A bad do all around.
Now, what has this to do with banks? Well also on the telly was the CEO of Lehmans. His desicions mean that a very large company goes under, thousands of people loose their jobs with all the problems that follow with lossing your job, never mind all the knock on consquenses that go with a company going bust. This guy is then on camera quibbling with the media as to whether is has $200 million or $500 million in cash and assets, but he didn't argue about the number of vast properties he had. Where is his court appearence? Why is he not living in a bed sit some where having lost everything? It wasn't a momentary lasp of concertration, he decided to take those risks and lost and nothing happens to him personally. Grrr
