It has been known for some time that FPNs cannot be issued to foreign drivers but this is the first time it has been confirmed that NO action was taken at all.

Obviously not "Cost Effective"....

No s**t Sherlock.

Who says the media doesn't co-ordinate stories for maximum impact...

No escape from EU fines for errant motorists

Hmm. The really sad and worrying part of the new legislation is the 'incentive' of the country of nationality of the alleged offender getting to keep the fines. How exactly is the individual supposed to get a fair trial in these circumstances when the bluff and bluster letters start getting churned out?

If you are caught speeding in France (and the gendarmes are buying more and more radar traps) you will be invited to pay up on the spot. If you haven't got the cash they will escort you to a cash machine. But at least you won't get any points on your licence.
If they spot a radar detector in your car, working or not, you will be in serious trouble. Very big fine or they may impound the car.
