just thought i'd get a general opinion on where to get tyres from....

i'm after a good, branded, preferably fairly hard wearing set of fronts to go on my 93, with a heavy diesel singularity in it.
i can search around on the internet for prices etc but i usually end up getting the same as already fitted & i'm usually underwhelmed with the service when i get there!

has/does anyone use blackcircles.com ?

What I do is check prices and reviews online then get prices from fitters I have good experiences with and haggle. I normally find the local guys can match an online price if they want to.

I usually buy towards the performance end of the market rather than what you are maybe looking for, however I have been happy with the feel from the various Bridgestone Potenzas I have used on a few cars, they tend to have quite stiff sidewalls and are communicative. I would say that for a diesel car with a heavy nose you will need a tyre with a high load index, make sure whatever you choose is rated for your car or at best it will not feel nice and at worst potentially dangerous. The vredestein and Bridgestone sites come up with tyres with load ratings of around 93-95 for the 9-3 TiDs.

For the last few years i have used etyres.

Good prices, and they come to you as part of the service - which is normally a significant charge if you use some of the major well known companies.

Subsequent punctures are fixed for free (and i have had a couple - so that's another few tens of notes saved) :)

BlackCircles (who i have also used) were a pennies cheaper that etyres, but you have to wait for delivery and then attend the nearest premises to get them fitted.

I am also in Midlandcestershire, so hopefully you will get a similar good (franchise) service.

Have been using these guys for years on some less than exotic cars and they are very knowledgable and quite good on price.
