AUSTRALIAN vocalist Janet Seidel will sing at Staveley on Wednesday, May 13.
The antipodean jazz star will be the guest of Kendal Jazz Club – her only gig in the North West amonst just a dozen dates in the UK.

Janet has earned rave reviews for her easy and elegant approach to the classic songs of the jazz era. Her influencADVERTISEMENTes include such greats as Peggy Lee, Doris Day, and Blossom Dearie, and her wonderfully subtle voice, interpretative skills, and warm personality make for a captivating evening.

Her bassist brother David Seidel and superb guitarist Chuck Morgan, both stars of the Australian jazz scene, make up the trio.

With 16 CD releases under her belt and 20 years' experience, Janet has attained the kind of status and reputation for quality most performers around the world only dream about, and is known as Australia's First Lady of Jazz.

Kendal Jazz Club chair Bruce Carnaffin says: "It's a real thrill for us to have an international star of this calibre as our guest, and we are sure that the intimate and friendly atmosphere of our jazz club will be the perfect setting for this very special trio.

"Janet is also performing at major uk venues including London's Pizza on the Park as part of this tour, so we we really are very lucky to have her join us for what we know will be a special and memorable evening."

The gig will take place at the Beer Hall, next to Wilf's Café in Staveley, and all are welcome. Admission is £10 on the door and the music starts at 8.30 pm.
