Video's available for a little while...

Well worth a watch, but keep your blood pressure pills handy.

It's absolutely maddening to hear all the crap old stats to come out (largely) without challenge. :(

I've checked and it's fine here.

Do you have Real Player installed and working? If you do, perhaps the BBC blocks international requests? (bandwidth issues?)

Do you get a message?

A lot of the BBc stuff is blocked to foreign IP addresses.

The streaming stuff etc.

Supposedly so it doesn't get seen by people who have not payed the licence fee (or something along those lines).

Those old gits with radar guns? It's almost as bad as giving a monkey a loaded gun.

Proud to say that our local evening paper has got it right -

VIGILANTES ARE WHAT THEY ARE !!!

Speed gun vigilantes
Mar 3 2005
People in a town in Warwickshire are to be armed with laser guns to crack down on speeding drivers.

http://iccoventry.icnetwork.co.uk
News South Warwickshire

Link is too long for page

MOST DISTURBING IS WHO PAID FOR GUNS - COUNTY COUNCIL , WHOS POLICE AUTHORITY IS ASKING FOR MORE MONEY THIS YEAR --

Warwickshire County Council has already approved a 2.96 per cent rise in its portion of the bill - and Warwickshire Police Authority is demanding 4.72 per cent more ( NORTH WARKS ARTICLE - TAXES ARE FAIR)

TO SPEND ON MORE SPEED GUNS FOR VILLAGERS ?????

IS THIS TO BE LATEST CRAZE BY GOLDEN OLDIES , AFTER THE GOLDEN SURFER CRAZE, COP A CAR .
PRIZES GIVEN TO HIGHEST SPEED RECORDED .

SADLY THE POLICE WILL GET INVOLVED , SENDING OUT LETTERS .

BUT HOW LONG IS IT TILL THIS "DADS ARMY " GETS THE POWER TO ISSUE TICKETS.

WE'VE GOT BLUNKETS BOUNCERS, THE "HIGHWAY MOB" , WHAT NEXT THE OAP SPEED BRIGADE, CHASING SPEEDING CARS IN INVILADE CARRIAGES.

Thanks g_attrill.
found putting in link made rest of text dissapear, web site + south warks and heading just as easy to follw/navigate

Seem to remember that national news made a lot about neighbourhoods from hell, and when the mention of vigilanties was mentioned, the police got very hot under collar. "THESE PEOPLE ARE AS BAD AS THE YOBS" was one comment.

Another instance - at one time had serious yob problems in my area - so made dummy video camera, with flashing led to protect car ( only aimed at car)- yobs got mad, police got involved and instructed us to remove.
"DONT DO AS WE DO , DO AS WE TELL YOU" seems to be motto

I was accused of driving 52mph through a 40 limit a while ago by some local yokel speed nazis. I wasn't of course. But I was in a convertible wearing a suit. Bad move. I've not seen them since I kicked up a fuss though.

See this thread.

Another question could be - are these villagers really interested in road safety , or trying to make "THEIR" village a no go area for cars from outside.
In other words making sure their little world is reserved for those that reside there - in other words a "residents club".
At least i know that if i see plod with his hairdryer out that he has a vested interest in law enforcement ( and his boss in topping up the coffers), not persuading us to get home via another village

:gatso2: I bet if those interfering busybodies stood about the streets carrying fiearms and other offensive weapons, claiming they were protecting themselves from muggers and burglars, the law would jump on 'em very quickly.

DOUBLE STANDARDS OR WHAT :?:

DOUBLE?? - if a gang starts trouble in an area , no police action follows and the residents start to patrol the area the police call them "vigilantes"
seems the police only like residents patrols ( sorry we cant call them vigilantes if organised by police)

Shades of Police Academy, if not so serious.
