Redspeed is set to increase around the UK.

There notification that ...

By using multi point to multi point technology, RedFusion is capable of offering accurate speed measurements even if a vehicle changes lane or leaves the particular carriageway being monitored, reducing potential incidents caused by vehicles changing lane in order to avoid detection and in turn ensuring maximum possible offence detection.

... is very telling as their whole objective is about numbers and nothing about road safety - not that they are about for anything other than to increase their sales and profits.

RedSpeed in Scotland
here

Quote:
RedSpeed are set to supply Scotland with more fixed enforcement systems.

RedSpeed International Ltd has this month agreed with Transport Scotland to supply a number of RedSpeed systems in the Edinburgh and Glasgow area.

The agreement follows a number of visits to the area, working with Transport Scotland to assess the best solution for their needs. RedSpeed was the first digital speed and / or red light system to achieve Home Office Type Approval in the United Kingdom some four years ahead of the rest of the market. This approval means our equipment is tried and tested in a number of challenging environments around the UK. With many systems already operational in Central London, we were able to demonstrate that our equipment is more than capable of dealing with the volumes of traffic using the busy roads of the regions largest cities.

When 'speed' or numeric value is not the issue with Road Safety anyway why are the Government focusing on this ?

I have one hope and one hope only, which is based on evolution actually and the only straw I have left to clutch at. Eventually, anything and everything which is either wrong or stupid will start to affect the instigators too! Maybe not in their lifetime, but if they care about after they are gone...

In other words, be careful what you wish for. History repeats itself but each generation has to learn it for themselves it seems, sadly. I hope before I go and can see the return of common sense and truth. But untill then - Same circus, different tent.

You will be branded a threat to society by going over a speed limit where it is safe to do so, and suffer the consequences of your actions in a way criminals do not, more so than someone who is a real threat to our society.

I have been sensing a bit of a back lash to government snooping and the politicians picking up on it (at last). Maybe it is a bit of wishfull thinking on my part. Either way, there is an election looming...
