It can stand 40 minutes being driven pretty enthusiastically around a race track so it should not be a problem.

Fairly unlikely to spontaneously fall apart given it has managed to get to 18 years and 70,000 miles. I would not trust it as everyday transport, then it was never designed to be such.
Oddly I have never had a pedestrian step out in front of it, it is a bit sonically obvious of course.
I have considered an electric vehicle as a commuting tool, one day when they mature into a practical proposition I may well have one, until then my Smart will have to do the job.
