I have a ticket for speeding which was issued to me directly by a police officer (Nth Yorkshire) last weekend. I need to present the paper part of my licence this week at my local police station for processing.

On the ticket I was handed, I have just noticed that under the Vehicle Details, he has mistakenly ticked it as an automatic car, not a manual. This was his error but I've just noticed it.

Have I any chance of getting off on a technicality here in that the info on the ticket is wrong or is this a highly unlikely prospect?

IMO: it's highly unlikely you'll get any mileage out of such an error. Such minor 'slips' are usually allowed.
