Why does adding a egg cup of water to the two gallons in a full bucket cause a puddle on the floor? It is a perfectly reasonable hypothesis that there is a level of atmospheric gases beyond which the greenhouse effect becomes much more serious. An hypothesis which deserves testing.

So when it reaches 400ppm ?
Or 4000ppm (as it has been in the past) ?
And why should beggaring the global economy to reduce the level by 2.5% make any difference.
And what if reducing the level (in the atmosphere) by reducing human emissions does not work (to reduce the level in the atmosphere)
Trillions of dollars to achieve ?
The world has never had a stable climate. It has always been changing.
I tend to believe the sceptics: Not enough is known.
My children won't be laughing if the worlds population stops producing CO2 (eggs/basket/all-in-one) and the atmospheric levels keep climbing. As others have said before: What comes first, temperature rising following CO2 rising. Or CO2 rising following temperature rising ?.
The money masks the science (if not buries it)

Which is damned good reason for spending money to find out more, rather than dismissing the whole AGW hypothesis as "cobblers" and ignoring it.

Is there any reason why anyone should believe them? At least with short-term weather you only need to know about local variables; long-term climate requires so much more (global/solar variables). The MET did a long-range forecast predicting a mild 2008/9 winter - the opposite occurred.

I don't pretend to know the answers or particularly understand the complexities. But being more careful with what we consume and throw away must surely benefit everyone. The trouble is is that AGW, appears to my layman ears, to be some kind of stick to beat the population with. We get Bonio, Paul McCartney and Sting etal telling the likes of you and I to not go on holiday once a year and to trade down to an even smaller car. They then jump on their private jets to go to another press conference to tell another nation the same thing. Gordon Brown and Alastair Darling will justify increases in tax on energy by saying that it helps combat climate change and we should all walk or go by bus, then just in a V8 Jag to drive 400 yards to Downing Street.

Personally, I'd not find it so galling if the people preaching then end of the world would practise what they are preaching. Increasing our knowledge of the climate will only be a good thing, even if it turns out that climate change is a totally natural phenomenon. Just please stop fobbing us off and misleading us please.

I think that, if a starship with human colonists landed on a planet like earth was 600 MY ago they might be able to make a go of it. the atmosphere would likely be breathable but the local diet would be somewhat limited! they would have to rely heavily on plants/livestock that they had brought with them (not to mention a fair bit of technology)

OTOH, if you plonked "Ray Mears" down there with nothing more than his trusty survival knife I doubt if he would survive much more than a couple of weeks!

Climate change- we must do something- anything but do it and do it now!...... well no, not really.

The climate changer/global warmist/alarmists are the kinds of people who make rash and rush decisions and when it goes wrong they blame someone else.

Imagine, i have 50 wires, all the same colour.
Through 1 of them flows nothing.
Through the others flows a lethal voltage.
My task, to cut the non flowing wire before it goes "live".
My life now depends on cutting the correct wire, but i have only a very few moments to determine which is the none powered wire.
So, how to proceed.

Global warmist/alarmist= cut any wire.
Sceptic prods the wires one by one to find the dead one with a neon tester.

Ive also noticed a trend by the media to put images of falling ice and polar bears up when any mentions made of global warming or indeed any other climate change codswallop.

Subliminal advertising surely? To make and enforce an impression in peoples minds. Criminal.

The person who is promoting the environmental benefits of CO2 cap and trade, who also coincidentally owns a company that holds a large stake in another that has already traded hundreds of millions of dollars of CO2 trading.

No significant conflict of interest there then
