Well we haven't got a free society then. Has anybody?

I find paedophilia objectionable, should I tolerate it?

There is a clear and obvious distinction between behaviour which causes injury to people and behaviour which, whilst distasteful, does not.,

Indeed, which was an unspoken (but obvious) qualification to my original comment.

So we have an invite from the new gov. And general consent is it is too difficult to reverse laws so we shouldn't try. Might as well close the web site then!

“It has never been the rule in this country – I hope it never will be - that suspected criminal offences must automatically be the subject of prosecution” He added that there should be a prosecution: “wherever it appears that the offence or the circumstances of its commission is or are of such a character that a prosecution in respect thereof is required in the public interest”
This approach has been endorsed by Attorney General ever since 1951. CPS Code

I used to do a lot of riding as a teen, my sister was horse mad and roped all the family in - great fun! Our riding school ran drag hunts - normally a rider or a runner from the local cross country club. It worked well and actually was very successful as many riders oppossed to hunting foxy got involved it being a genuinely animal friendly hunt.

However, fox hunting as a means of pest control is terrible.

Quote:
I am not in favour of torturing any animal - not even terrorists. In a fox hunt the fox dies very quickly once he is caught. Much more quickly and humanely than if it were to be trapped or shot by less than a marksman.

Having shot foxes and speaking to those who do it for a living I'd disagree - most pest control use .22 and yes if your aim is of it's not a clean kill - but good enough to run over sharpish and dispatch - hit it with a .308 (normally used for deer hunting) if you hit foxy anywhere on it's body it's dead! And guess what 'junior' pest control men are usually given a .308 until thier aim is spot on enough for a clean kill with a .22 .

One I'd introduce is a ban on councils / public bodies / insurers etc using H&S as an excuse to ban or curtail events when it's actually another often unrelated reason - I'm jacked off with idiots bringing my profession into disrepute ! :furious: :furious:

Bin taxes - on way out - some councils using carrot ,rather than stick are being held up as example .
Part P- did anyone think this through - It's safer to have an extension lead ( or a few leads ) of unknown current capacity, and of unknown safety capacity rather than a fixed solid point, capable of carrying the current and with solid earthing .Many professional checks on DIY installations find that a very high percentage of work EXCEEDS that which would be done by a tradesman .My house -,council one - I found the lighting circuit earth not connected. But a major one . I did ask my old uncle ( at time 85, time served electrician ,fully Regs qualified on retirement ) on this one . He struggled to think on year . My house has power sockets wired via door casement ,with hollow in door frame to hold cables .
Now on foxes-and the one found in a London suburb .If I find one on my back garden threatening my grand son ,would my , bred for vermin hunting terrier be a criminal( because he was attacking a fox, not knowing it was illegal for him to do so, because he's a dog ) if he defended his charge ,or ,as of now , branded a hero .
But like the discussion on Part P ,methinks . Was like a discussion I had ,some years ago with a lady from BT . I had a BT provided extension ,wired round the outside of my house , and it sagged like some cow waiting for the knacker . I asked for advice - "We'll do it for a fee "she said - "in that case I'll do it myself" ,said I . "You're not qualified " she said . My reply "Please send me that in writing as it's after the NTTP " . I did hear some rapid footsteps in background before a retraction of last statement .
