I Have been caught doing 95 on a motorway.
I have only been driving 18 months and have not got any points before but I have read on the web that for this you could get 6 points and I only have 6 to play with in the first two years.
Anybody had any experience of this???

:welcome:

Well you must have been indicating about 100mph you naughty boy. ;) You don’t say if it was a camera or whether you were stopped?

If you haven’t heard of Pepipoo you will also find it a useful source of help and information which you may want to check out.

Chances are there is, or has been, someone with a case very similar to yours. They also have a NIP Wizard but you would have to register, (for free), to use it.

I don’t go on there much and have never used the wizard because I never ever speed. Image In fact it sometimes feels like I'm the only one who doesn't

Unfortunately "You will be branded a threat to society by going over a speed limit where it is safe to do so, and suffer the consequences of your actions in a way criminals do not, more so than someone who is a real threat to our society."

Of course if you were doing it in a dangerous place/time/situation :nono: you deserve to hang

Best wishes and take care. :)

I think you are 'eligible' for 3 points up to and including 95mph, assuming the offence was in a 70 limit; you shouldn't get 6 points for that.

96 would've got anyone banned, wouldn't it?

I have always been led to believe that it has to be 30mph over the limit for an instant ban :? (In this case 100+ mph if, like you say Steve, it was a :70: )

But maybe not for new drivers such as the O/P?

Maybe I have been misled?

I don't know why it is that I have seen this for the first time but that is both very informative and valuable thanks Steve!

Just one thing bothering me though, and do correct me if I’m wrong. A 'guideline' isn’t nearly the same what they can or do get away with.

So it may be fair to say our O/P can't rest too easy just yet...

Edit...

Can I just say I noticed something from what I would call their mission statement..

Use of the Roads by Criminals: -

Priorities: Exploit technology; Utilise the National Intelligence Model. Improved Road User Behaviour

Priorities: Identify and remedy the causes of potentially harmful road-user behaviour; Meet the Government’s Casualty Reduction Targets
Effective Collision Investigation

Priorities: Investigate to the standard set by the Road Death Investigation Manual; The improved use of technology. Safer Vehicles

Priorities: Identify and deal with unroadworthy vehicles; Accumulate data; NCAP – police to provide example by purchasing cars with high NCAP ratings. Improved use of road space

Priority: To respond promptly to incidents in order to reduce the impact of disruption whilst providing a high quality incident management and investigative service to the public and our partners. Safer Roads

Priority: In partnership share and inform professional knowledge in relation to the roads infrastructure to enhance safety"

So exactly how much does a speed camera further their objectives... :?

I'll tell you how much. It's gets drivers who have never been done before in their life and have a perfect driving record but now, suddenly, they are 'dangerous'.

It's pathetic!

So that's ,not innocent til proven guilty , but innocent till we drive on the road .Is that why so many young kids take bikes off road - do they ( in their young years of wisdom) know something we don't :D
