Sorry if this is wrong forum, but this makes interesting reading as i believe Nottinghamshire is one of the leaders in the anti car game.

TOP COP: WE CAN'T COPE WITH CRIME
Daily Mirror - Mar 14 00:20
A CHIEF constable admitted yesterday his officers were so overwhelmed by violent crime they could not cope. Steve Green's Nottinghamshire force, which is probing 30 unsolved murders, has been forced to pay neighbouring constabularies to help out staff.

This is one story - this link gives more.

I hope Paul won't mind, but I just have to bring this up.

Chief CONstable steve green, you know, the one who "can't cope" and needs "more officers - help from other forces" etc etc.

Well, tonights Nottm Eve Post carries a report that, 25 Police Officers........

wait for iiiiiiit...............

were sent out to check that passengers on the the local 'Tram and bus' services had......"PAID THEIR FARES" !

FCOBL...COW ? !

How many 'criminals' did they catch 'dodging the fare'?

And the tw*t has been granted an extra 3million quid, to 'squander' ? !

He'll probably use most of it to fund a celebration champagne party.

Nice one.

A Police blitz on fare dodgers and the misbehaved has been hailed a success.

Seven people were given £30 on-the-spot fines by Notts traffic police for driving in bus lanes. ( total collected =£210, from the story, )
Oh big news now - fining illegally parked drivers.
Doesent say why they drove in bus lanes - did it. :x
Don't forget, not only did they catch fare dodgers, they found a new way to harass motorists - must be worth a few quid.

Further one-day stings are planned - as oposed to the full time sting of specs etc?

The Chief Constable is a prick!

Does he really believe for one minute that the public actually give a flying f*ck for fare dodgers?
If so, could somebody please get the name & address of his dealer because I would also like some of the shit he is taking.

Perhaps the "gent" who said it should be legalised , in another area where motorists ( with open cheque book) are welcomed could point you in that direction.
He seems to know a lot about it.

And now we read Surrey police are too busy catching up on paperwork to catch criminals - http://www.channel4.com/news/news_story ... yId=392691

Lest our resident BIB think i'm taking P , let me add -its high time the blokes at the top started to listen to those ranks who actually deal with the public, like the ones who post on here.

Surrey is just one of a large number of forces whose CC's have rallied round to support the Notts 'waster'.

Here

And the widower of a murdered woman has launched a scathing attack on CC Green.
NowTHIS sums up the feelings of many (if not the MAJORITY) of the citizens of Notts. :!:

Our hopes of getting a more competent CC have been dashed by this report:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/nott ... 365965.stm

(For the time being anyway)

Just a passing thought - they all seem to find the manpower to change the film in cameras. :o

Notts CC steve green is........

A MENACE TO LAW AND ORDER !

(And so say all of us !!)

Victor Bates whose wife was murdered during an armed robbery has blasted Notts CC, saying that, "criminals had flourished in Nottingham during the time of Chief Constable Steve Green"

He went on to say,
"Nottingham has never been as lawless as it has been under this chief constable. He is a menace to law and order,"

"We don't want a response to crime, we want a battling down on crime. The way that the criminals in Nottingham have been allowed to flourish under his regime is ridiculous. It is frightening"

"There are less police officers on the streets. There are community wardens who have no power on the streets"

"It must have cost the lives in Nottingham of over 15 people over the last two years, including my wife"

"The criminals have been encouraged by the system that prevails. Crime now is a lively occupation because the chances of being caught are so little."

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/engl ... 370439.stm

Feelings are running high down here with many people calling for the CC to "resign, or be sacked" !

Steve Green has responded by backing down, apologizing for saying that he "could not cope".
He realises the folly of his 'publicity hunting' and is now running scared as he fears losing his job.

http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/arti ... 00?source=

This is the man responsible for, swamping Notts with scameras, closing down the 'Traffic Wing', replacing beat officers with street wardens and cso's, whilst parading around the streets with a swarm of reporters/photographers 'in tow', posing for publicity shots at murder/gun crime scenes etc etc.

If the members of the Notts Police Authority allow him to remain in office, there will be public outrage, and calls for even more resignations.

Now we have these reports of police forces who cannot get man(sorry person) power on the streets.

see this --

OUT TODAY --

DAILY MAIL

Camera network to spot criminals on roads
08:32am 23rd March 2005

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/a ... ge_id=1770
Actually the headline on the front page paints a picture of a camera on every street corner, with a police car waiting to catch offenders.

Who'l be manning( or personing them to be politically correct) as most officers will be sitting at their desks, cuppa in hand and typing away.

Next it says -
If a "wanted" vehicle passes the camera it can be tracked and an arrest made.

If the vehicle is registered and the DVLA database correct.

I saw a similar article by safespeed on ANPR

Post subject: Re: ANPR Report - pOSTED BY SAFESPEED.
Oh, it's FAR worse than that. What about all the law-abiders who will suffer because their number plates have been cloned or stolen. It's not just that we get caught for being a couple of days late with our VED.

I think APNR threatens to undermine the whole registration process. I hear that in some areas of Holland 30% of vehicle have false registrations because of speed camera activity. What use it ANPR when every other vehicle scores a database hit?

Another whisper about to come true - or is the true purpose of blunkets mobile bouncers in black and blue marked 4x4?? -
I personally will not mind if it gets the untaxed/uninsured/unmot'd of the road - but it still stinks of 1984

[/b]

According to todays Sun --http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2005140486,00.html
At least Surrey and Notts admit defeat.
Bedfordshire have found a new way to get the crime solved rate up -
with a new meaning to "insider trading"
Detectives are said to have “solved” hundreds of cases by illegally offering lags a string of treats if they confessed.
Novel policing?. Wonder how the hundreds of decent cops feel about the slag on their name.
solve one . get 100 free :P

Hanbo - saga of Notts CC goes on -
THE top cop who admitted he was losing the war on crime has been put under armed guard after receiving death threats.

Chief Constable Steve Green — under “round the clock security” — is the SECOND senior officer in his Nottingham force to get protection.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit if this is yet another of his attempts for publicity.

The prat will stop at nothing to get his name/picture in the papers !

He will be sick as a parrot when he reads to-nights Nottm Eve Post and theres no mention of his 'death threat' in it !

Can't see the 'threats' coming from 'Real' criminals anyway, as his policing methods allow these types to get away with crime, so it's probably something to do with his insane obsession with his speed cameras !

Notts Police are currently being assisted by 20 detectives from other forces including the West Midlands, Lancashire, Derbyshire, South Yorkshire, Humberside, Lincolnshire and Staffordshire - and this could increase to 40 or 50 in the coming months.

CC green is under investigation by a team of Government inspectors who are due to report back to Home Secretary Charles Clarke on Monday on Notts police's handling of major crime investigations.
(Hopefully they will do their job properly, and send him packing !)

CC Green said he would never consider standing down from his high pressure job, despite coming under fire from city council leader Jon Collins and Notts Labour MPs.
(But then, his money is 'in the tin' no matter what !)

However, he continues to call for a complete ban on the sale/ownership of.....................................
.............REPLICA GUNS :!: :!:

FFS !
One can only step back in amazement at the lunacy of this clown !

How many murder victims are killed by 'replica' guns ?

I, for one would prefer to crap myself when confronted by someone with an imitation firearm, than get shot by the REAL THING !

Good news for the people of Notts.

Deputy Chief Constable of West Midlands Police Chris Sims has been drafted in to try and clear up the mess created by steve green.

During his time with the West Midlands force, Mr Sims, 46, from Stafford, has built up an impressive reputation.

It is easy to see why Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary identified him as the man to assess the performance of Notts Police.

Mr Sims declined to give any interviews yesterday, ahead of his arrival on Monday.

The same cannot be said of CC green, who retorted, "I am not negative about his arrival, "He will be working FOR me ! to make sure we can push on and improve."
(Refusing to accept that he is being 'undermined', his credibility is in doubt, and his job is at stake !)

CC Green will have to knuckle under now and stop being such an ar$ehole.
His 'limelight chasing' days have come to an abrupt halt with the arrival of Mr Sims.

BTW. The reports of 'Death Threats' to s. green and another top cop have NOT appeared in the Nottm Eve Post, I can't understand why ! :?
Unless our CC is so embarrassed by it that he's 'gagged' the local press ?
