So given I am over 45 does this mean I will lose my c1, c1e, d1 and d1e unless I get a medical?

No it says that those with full licenses are unaffected, so whatever you are entitled to drive/ride you retain.

This development of these motoring rules & regs might have been brought in anyway, but perhaps it is the manner in which it is done than our choice that can trouble us/some.
Conforming to be similar to other Countries is not by itself bad, but if it is 'done', (at all), be done because we also see that the scientific evidence is sound, and that it will also improve our Countries roads and are absolutely necessary. If there is any doubt whatsoever it must be researched thoroughly first.
Has that been done ? And if so who's responsible ? Who agreed that it is absolutely necessary ? Is it identical to other EU Countries rules and regs ?

[In my personal opinion, it is most troubling the way 'Brussels' appears in many ways to have taken over our Government and we are expected to be under it's governance. We pay the EU massive sums just for them to tell us how to spend our money - why ?
We must renounce the 1972 agreement with Europe which will end all of this 'commitment'. I am quite sure our UK Government can manage our affairs perfectly well throughout the World without the need of others telling us how they think we ought to 'be'.]

It doesn't matter if it is necessary.
EU directives MUST be incorporated into member states laws unless a derogation can be negotiated, and that derogation must be agreed by a large majority of the remaining member states.
I will remind you that EU law takes precedence.
Effectively, and in reality, the 650 members of parliament are now as effective as town councillors.
Of the 3500 [ish] new laws, regulations and alterations effected into law in the past year or so, the majority were EU derived.
If any UK law contradicts or limits EU law then UK law has to give way.
You will note that the "pasty tax" mentioned as a result of budget changes was a result of a European court of justice ruling on vat....and was a hasty alteration to avoid possible vat refunds to many "fast-food" outlets.
