Is this an attenpt by a subversive element to split our ranks?

From the Times letters page today (apparantly)

Motorcycle dangers
From Mr Paul Smith

Sir, I am becoming increasingly alarmed at the rising number of motorcycle deaths. These accidents, whether the fault of the motorcyclist or other road users or even road conditions, are tragedies for a great many people. The main problem seems to me to be the lack of protection a motorcyclist has.
I wonder whether we should start looking at restricting the use of motorcycles to, say, minor roads, or even banning them altogether?

Yours faithfully,
PAUL SMITH,

Yeah, it certainly isn't me.

The print edition (at least) carries a full address. My guess is that it's just a rather unfortunate coincidence.

I believe that individuals must manage their own risks and if that includes motorcycling, then that's a valid choice that real people have an inalienable right to make.

Yeah,

The same guy had the same letter printed in the Express.
Some wag responed by saying we should actually ban cars because car drivers pose the biggest hazard to motorcylists
Gets my vote, since returning to the bike, I'm far more conscious now than I ever was of just how little appreciation most car drivers, safe in their little boxes, have of the problems faced by a motorcylist :bunker:

The number of motorcycle fatalities went down last year.

With one million motorcyclists in this country I don't think a ban is on the cards.

Some people just talk out of their arse. :x

We would save more lives by banning..
smoking
drinking
"fast" foods
diy
sex

How would banning sex save lives, Gizmo? Without sex, there would be no lives to save!

How about aids!...Mostly sexualy transmitted

Abortion also kills one in five unborn children (depending on your viewpoint). Thats more than 10,000 in the UK alone.

So all things considered Sex is one of the most dangerous things you can do.
