Hi all - just a query about speed/traffic camera types in towns - was driving through a town early in the morning (taking the dog out for a walk) and a white flash came from a very small camera which was mounted about 30-35 ft above the ground at the top of a very thin pole - it looked quite like it was some kind of "cctv camera", however, there was definately a white flash, like a photograph was being taken - it was front-mounted and took a picture of my car head-on at about a distance of 50-60 metres away - it's happened on a couple of occasions, all early in the morning - on one occasion I was doing about 33-35 mph and on another I was doing about 24-27 mph - but the camera flashed on both occasions even though I suspect the speed limit is 30 mph through this town.

So - does anyone have any idea what kind of camera it was - was it some kind of new speed camera, or a "traffic stats camera" or what ?

Thanks.

Was it on a very tall, thin pole, and painted yellow?

If so it could have been one of the lesser known "Redspeed" speed cameras.
