This topic is shortlived - the above items are due to be on sale at ALDI stores from the 23rd June, usually for one week.

We discussed Hi-Vis jackets recently, so I hope Paul does not mind me putting this up. The price is £6.99 for the jacket, triangle and gloves all in a carry case, which seems quite good compared to the prices I have seen in some shops just for the jacket!! (Can I mention Halfords by name?) 8-)

If you live in Notts. you'll need to be quick before the Chief Constable is there equiping his force on the cheap!

Hell, no, I don't mind. Looks like a bargain - I paid £19 for my hi-viz jacket.

Na, I don't think so. The have probably specified a unique type, only available from one source, A company owned by the brother in law of a councillor...oops sory did I just say that.. :)

Seriously though its a must. I think it is law in some european countries so if you are driving over to Europe get one in stock. I am going to add one to my tool kit.

I'm sure they'll sell out fast, the warning triangle which IS compulsory when you drive abroad, cost £6.95 in our local Motorist Discount Centre!
Hi-Viz jacket was £12.95 in Halfords, though it DID have sleeves! Cant see from the picture if the ALDI one has.

The 'jacket' looks like a waistcoat, which is used by highway workers and others in situations where the 'high-vis' aspect is important, but weather protection is not. Lots of truck drivers have them for loading yards etc.

as with most things, you get what you pay for.

The jacket does indeed look like a vest - make sure it is not a mini type as these are a lot smalLer and won't have as many reflective strips. Might be worth while checking out quality of reflctive strips.Another thing for Europe - some time ago i read that the EU(in its infitite wisdom) had decreed that all hi viz (certainly for emergency services) should be orange - does this extend to civilian hi viz.Problem is that for years we brits have been conditioned to looking out for yellow hi viz. Having said that at night it's the reflective strips that stand out -

Well, I got one of these last week or so. It is bigger than it looks there, there is one extra stripe further down (all the way around) and no sleves.

It has velcro down the front to attach the 2 sides.

Legal requirement but missing from my Spanish hire car. Also couldn't find the set of replacement head/tail light bulbs. Judging by the state of the local's vehicles I doubt many of those had them either.
