I think he's finally lost it completely. Why not just get rid of all the bloody trafplods and replace them with cowboy clampers? Not happy to see TVP is also involved in this lunacy, but sadly not entirely surprised either. One stop short of Upney, the whole pack of them.

Brunstrom is a disgrace to his uniform. One would have thought that his fellow CCs would be encouraging him to "consider his position" as he must surely be a complete embarrassment to them all.

Imagine it is the end of the month and you are behind on your quota. What will your do...

Go and find some body to bust, anybody that is easy to find just so long as you get your points score up. Public interest does not come into it. If you look at the accident statistics it is VERY seasonal, but the points system does not look to take this into account.

If you need to monitor someone it means you don't trust them to do their job.

So we have a Chief Constable that does not trust his own Traf Pols. Must be great for morale.. :x

A gold star should be given to a traffic warden who gives a parking tcket to

    1. Person who parks his car and trailer on the pavement whilst he trims his hedges in Colwyn Bya

    2. Person who parks his trailer carrying his yacht on double yellow lines and blocks access to private garages

Person is abusing his uniform and is a disgrace to Chief Constables

Collective reports in all press articles reveal North Wales has increasing incindents of murder, violent crimes and vandalism, road traffic accidents and its law abiding and weary residents, in the meantime, are meeting the "criminals caught" targets by being copped for breaking an arbitrary speed limit by a whisker. :?

A good leader should not have to rely in cheap gimmicks to motivate and gain the commitment and loyalty of his team - his leadership style and charisma should be enough to command this - and he should also be able to trust the discretion and honesty of his officers.

Funny how North Yorks and Co Durham consistently return a good performance in all areas of their police work per official stats and press reports... and also funny how the two bosses do not need to to rely on cheap gimmicks to command a high commitment from their officers.

Wonder what they've got that Daft Dick lacks...:scratchchin:

 Common sense... and an old fashioned idea that BiBs should be seen ....

The way they have started to clamp down on traffic wardens it to give points for successful tickets, that is ones where the driver has not challenged, and won the appeal.

If they are intent on a points system for Police it should be on the basis of successful convictions, not cautions/NIPs

Hell, no. Giving 'em points for succesful convictions is stil an incentive to go after the easy stuff first. Stuff the genuinely dangerous drivers when there's much easier pickings to be had by simply setting up a mobile unit on a nice honey trap stretch with a daft limit. Even an incentive to reduce KSIs (and I really hate the way that KSI is so easily spun to suit the speed kills mob) isn't a good idea when it's monetary - crashes can happen fairly randomly, so a force/partnership can concievably get bonuses purely by chance. Worse still, they can rake it in by simply making the roads in their area so bloody unpleasant to drive on that everyone steers clear and most of the collisions happen elsewhere.

And Brunstrom's latest brainwave is mentioned on Numberwatch.
Quote:
Number of the month - eight

Number Watch tries to maintain a policy of moderate language, but what do you do when you have a complete nutter in high office, who every summer comes out with a policy dafter than the one before. Richard Brunstrom was justly dubbed by the Daily Mail The Worst Copper in Britain after his eruption in August 2003 (see Heroes of our Time, no 2). He surfaced again in June 2004 (see footnotes to that month). This summer's outing produced the headline Traffic officers must make eight arrests a month in the Daily Mail of June 26. The Mail has amassed about two dozen stories on this particular hero. When he is not oppressing motorists he is advocating that all drugs should be legalised (makes you wonder what he is on).

His latest wheeze is to turn his police officers into bounty hunters by awarding them "points for pulls". Regardless of the actual occurrence of offences, the Burglar's Friend will subject his officers to investigation if they fail to reach prescribed targets. As the corollary to Brignell's Law of League Tables tells us "what you measure is what you get". Even the honest policemen, who would not dream of fitting up an innocent person, will be subjected to pressures. Not only is it known that subconscious motivation can steer measurement errors in the "right" direction, the instruments used have just the right sort of failure modes to enable this to happen. The man is completely lacking in moral integrity, he is the ultimate Single Issue Fanatic and he ought to be stopped. He will not be, because he is bringing in stealth taxes to maintain Gordon's bureaucratic army.

Whatever happened to British justice?

Sounds about right to me.
