Has anyone seen any of this yet? There has been lots of scaremongering from the media but driving round today I haven't really seen much. There were queing onto the road in one petrol station in Darwen but all the others did not seem to be any busier then normal.

May just have been a coincidence but Sunday felt a little eerie on the roads, much quieter then normal. I wonder if people have been cutting down on non-essential journeys? In my opinion the media must take some responsibility, all this hyping up of panic buying can't be helping. However I heard on the radio that 999 has been swamped with calls asking where to buy petrol which the emergency services are non too happy with! It just seems odd tho, as I really havn't seen much panic! I've got about 3/4 of a tank in my car and just over half in the van - but go through a tank every 2-3 days so that won't last long. I'm happy with what I've got in the car though, and won't be out with the Jerry cans, tho I wonder if they are letting people fill them up?

Haven't seen anything to indicate that folk are panic buying where I live (Badshot Lea).

As for me personally, if I can't obtain any fuel to get to work after Wednesday, I won't really care in the slightest.

Came up to Leicester from the Ace cafe Brighton run this morning.

I was on the bike. Filled up in Crawley, Luton and Leicester. No problem.

I think the problem is the media hype.

There is evidence of it here in the West Midlands. Tescos in particular has had longer than normal queues each time I've been past there since yesterday morning, presumably after folks opened their Sunday papers and were faced with the headlines

I went grocery shopping this morning at Morrisons in Morecambe, and there were marshalls controlling the traffic because of the amount of cars.
The car park was nearly empty as was the shop, but the road was blocked by people getting fuel.

Mrs Rewolf had to pop into work at lunchtime, and because the warning light was on had to fill up - all local stations had very large queues with rumours that at least one station was dry and Safeways had marshalls trying to organise the queues to keep the road moving.

Then as she was filling up the operator made her jump by telling her over the intercom that they were applying a £40 limit to each transaction and that she had to stop - "I sneaked £41.38 but the tank is only 3/4 full".

The media hype must be adding to this, because as far as I know the protesters are not even talking about blockading the refineries this time and blairs bullies are ready to destroy the lives of anybody who attempts to do so.

Nothing notable around here (South West London / Surrey). I had a couple of days worth of petrol left in the tank, but filled it up at lunch time, just as a precaution - I normally fill up every 9 working days, rarely use the car for anything other than driving to and from work.

I do recall, though, that last time, the situation deteriorated very rapidly indeed, and I was extremely glad that I'd happened to have an almost full tank when the madness started. One day it was like normal, the next day there were big queues, the day after that the roads were completely blocked by the queues, and soon after that the supermarkets started to get low on food.

IIRC, last time there came a point where there were no blockades, but the drivers chose not to drive out of a sense of solidarity for the cause. I would hope the whole thing would be handled rather better this time.

Last time the hospital my wife works at were preparing ration cards for the staff to get petrol from designated stations. The blockade ended before they were used.

She has not heard anything yet this time. If the fuel runs out, and she cannot get to work, the clinic closes. Not her problem. I would have thought they would have learned by now.

If services suffer it is because of Government complacency.

Both my wife and I support the protests 100%

BTW she had a pay rise this year, then took it all back by charging for car parking. So as you can imagine, she is not exactly "team player" at the moment.

Remember, there is no "I" in team....but there is a "me"

The dayshift reported no petrol at Tesco this morning at 7am (still had diesel). The local ASDA was closed by mid afternoon (not sure if they have run out or shutting to preserve stocks). Long queues everywhere else.

plenty going on in servos I passed on way home from work (SE London area). Other half had to go to Folkestone today and needed to fill up on the way back. No standard unleaded left - no problem as we use Optimax  and the stupid f*ckers won't buy that. Guy in the servo was complaining that he'd have to shut at 8pm.

Every Cambridge petrol station I saw tonight, massive queues - doesn't bother me, I'm out of the country for a few days soon and won't be doing much driving until then, hopefully duty will be slashed by the time that I'm back.

Crap, I have a 200 mile round trip at the weekend, and half a tank left. Hopefully we won't be screwed too badly up here, I don't think there's enough people to use up an entire petrol station's supply in a few days...!

In Blackpool (South area of town) Asda had sold out (I was told this), Morrisons was queing around the car park, Tesco's back onto the main road, 3 others back onto the road, 1 was shut but when I passed a bit later they were having a delivery.

I've got 1/2 a tank in my day to day car - so should give me about 140mls if needed, and my weekend car will be about empty (maybe 1/8) after going to York yesterday (I don't trust the fuel gauge that much).

Tescos very busy tonight, but last week they actually ran out. :o Probably has increased local inclinations to panic buy, but I asked and it was just a delivery that hadn't shown up yet. How much they'll have left tomorrow... :|

Blimey

Yesterday lunch time looked like nothing changed.

But last night when I went out every petrol station had traffic tailing back onto the carriageway. Some 24 hour stations had already closed.

Stoke is mayhem but I only assume this is because there are lots of thick daily mail readers. There was a 30 or 40 car queue at 10.30 last night into one filling station I passed. The bp I went to later on said they had them queueing onto the roundabout during the day. Must have made it exciting for those tanking off the A34 and A500 and finding a pile of stopped cars in front of them. There was a police presence at both stations I saw that were open. The police were there were filing up so perhaps they were panic buying  I stuck in what I needed and an extra 2 litres to allow for having to drive around looking for somewhere that will still be selling fuel  Some clot in front of me was filling up his car and a jerry can. Grand total of £6 on the pump. Muppet.

I had heard there were operators that were going to set a minimum charge of 20 litres for cars to stop people "topping up"

Sound like a goo idea to me..bikes exempt of course..
