Nope neither did I

Just heard it on the news. Ah well maybe the motorways will be a bit quieter. Or schools will be clear of parents dropping kids off.

Or maybe not

I'm having a car free day today, but its only because my alternator blew up

Its all well and good having these schemes, but for some of us, there simply ISN'T a choice - I work on a farm in the middle of nowhere, and about 25 miles from home. Its too far to walk / cycle and there are no bus routes nearby, also as there are only 25 people working there I can't carshare as none of them live anywhere near me. I do get rather miffed when I see people driving 2 miles a day to work and back though... :x

No mention of it on Toon Town T2000 web site. Looks like they missed a trick with this one.

The thing that really pisses me off is that some brain-dead bureaucrat somewhere has spent public money (ie OURS) on such a fatuous idea.

There was one a while back - "National Diarrhoea Day"... What were we supposed to do? All eat dodgy kebabs the night before?? :?

They spend money like sailors on pay-off night.. :(

How about starting an International Drive-Everywhere-Physically-Possible- No-Matter-How-Silly Day in response? Two Jags Prescott could be both poster boy and inspiration having taken the car a couple of hundred yards because he was worried about his wife's barnet.

Drat! Missed it again when I failed to get up at 2am which is necessary for me to get to work by 8.30 by public transport. I went for the 20 minute drive instead!

The traffic was rather heavier than normal today - so, clearly, the number of people who knew about it must have been negative

Cheers
Peter

Well I was alright on Car Free day, I go to work in a van

If I didn't go to work in a vehicle normally, I think I would do on Car Free day on purpose, just because I'm not being told by a lentil eater that I shouldn't use it.

From time to time I do defend public transport, although I think it could be much improved, but to suggest everyone should leave their cars at home is laughable. I believe the organiser lives in London. Now that doesn't suprise me. What really winds me up is people in London telling people they should go everywhere on public transport. Yeah we all have a multi-line tube networks in every town and city. I'm pretty sure I would be less car dependant living in London, but they should try living eleswhere.

I knew about the talk like a pirate day in advance (don't ask) but only found out about the car free day on the day.
