I was driving on the M62 towards Liverpool and came upon the SPECS cameras near Liverpool. I did 50 all the way (as that was the limit) but speeded up as the 70 limit came towards me. Unbeknown to me there was another camera behind a tree !!!!!!!! I reckon I may have been doing around 58 as the last camera appeared from nowhere.

SO is it calculated as 50 using 5 cameras and 58 at one camera ??? i.e. averaging 52 mph over the distance ??

Doea SPECS take into account the 10% (+2) threshold ???
Does it average the speed over all the cameras ?? or just the pair ?? I think there is 6-8 cameras on that stretch ?!

I've got 3 points but would be devastated to get 3 more

Any info would be helpful.

As I understand it it's your average speed over the entire distance.

AIUI:
  1. SPECS works on the average between a pair of cameras, not throughout the section
  2. The threshold will normally be set right on the ACPO guidlines, so you will be done for an average of 57 in a 50. But the odds are your speedo will overread anyway, so I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it

at the second to last camera I was doing 50 and last one I was doing 58 then the average over the two would be 54 ???

I'm fairly babbinbg myself. Hate speed cameras, they take the pleasure out of driving.

It depends whether you speeded up to 58 just after the first camera, or just before the second one ;)

Given the circumstances I'd be surprised if you got a ticket, tbh.

Like PeterE said, if your speedo was redaing 58 then the chances are you were doing more like 56 or possibly even lower. I know my speedo reads about 5 - 6 mph fast at 60mph.

Have the "camera not in use" signs gone now?
