A THUG hurled a rock through a terrified trucker’s windscreen — because he thought he was driving TOO SLOWLY.
Tony Purkis and wife Marilyn narrowly escaped a horrific collision with a van as they swerved violently in a bid to dodge the missile.
The sick attacker had first blasted his horn and flashed his lights as he drove behind Tony.
He then overtook in a silver Mercedes C180, slammed on his brakes and made gestures for Tony to stop — but the lorry driver carried on.
The yob then drove miles ahead, stopped on a bridge over the A14 at Rougham, Suffolk, and threw a rock at the truck as it passed underneath.
Tony and Marilyn were showered with glass as the rock crashed through their windscreen.
Tony, from Suffolk, said yesterday: “It was the most frightening thing that has ever happened to me. We were lucky that we were not killed.”
Police say the car driver was in his 20s and had three other men in his Mercedes.
I would say that The Sun missed a golden opportunity here to remind drivers that HGVs are restricted to 40mph on single carriageways, and they are not driving slowly to build up their pay, but keeping within the law.
