New MCN - out Nov 2
The new issue of MCN is out on November 2 with the evidence that confirms that Gatsos really are being used to replace police. We have the MPs letter that lets the cat out of the bag...

As i said in another post - where i shop puts the MCN on prominent position - the article is on P1 -not on site that i could find, but the info might be of interest to Paul.

Maybe not , but "We have the MPs letter that lets the cat out of the bag... "

be interesting to see who it was ,what was said and whether or not it makes sense.

I've now got this copy of MCN. The claims hinge on the following statement in a letter written by Stephen Ladyman:

"The importance given to road policing should not be measured by the number of dedicated traffic officers. Speed cameras, which act as a continuous deterrant, actually free up police time for other duties, including other roads policing work."

It's interesting, but it does not support the claims that MCN are making for it.

Got a chance to read the bit of the letter printed - dissapointed in content. On the whole more use to the scamerati , some thing else for them to twist.

This is exactly the sort of 'buzz-phrase' we've heard from the likes of Callaghan and co. when justifying themselves.

Obviously straight from their standard text on camera propaganda and bullshit...

So a traffic officer used to be good for spotting/catching motorists
Speeding
Suspected drink driving
Dangerous/Careless Driving
Ignoring road signs/markings
Overloaded/dangerous loaded vehicles
+ others

to be replaced with a speed camera that does the following
Catches speeders

while the traffic officer now
mans a mobile speed camera
domestic incidents

I couldn't tell you the last time I saw a traffic car around Blackpool (excluding sat in the town centre on a Friday/Saturday night and directing traffic at the start of the illuminations at weekends - this used to be done by traffic wardens until a few years ago)
