OK, the 'ANPR' bit was a tiny bit of a red herring.
My point was, if DVLA cannot confirm my car is MOT'd (despite the fact it has been taxed without fail since new), then how the hell is plod or a spycam supposed to know I'm legal??
The next thing I will no doubt suffer is either I am getting a tug and having 30 minutes of my life wasted at the roadside by some spotty 21 year old twat who insists on addressing me (a 40 year old) as 'son', or I'll be getting an instant penalty through the post for driving without a current MOT certificate.
I am fully aware that the MOT deal isn't 'completely live' as of yet, but according to the garbage that is currently being churned out, anybody who has a 'computerised' MOT is already on the list (and our car has had a computerised MOT since last November).

The problem is that if they employed some compenent people and the system worked, there would be thousands of unemployable morons who are too stupid to do any useful work!
That's not a problem Sixy, they can quite easily be re-employed as camera operatives.
Granted it won't actually be a useful job, but they will be employed nonetheless and this will help the government in juggling the unemployment figures.
