Heh, this is from one of the other forums I read, it's the second or third one of these they've done. Everyone works on a tiny little tile with the exit and entry points of the blue ball marked, then we just stitch them all together. The end result is as you see in the link and like you say, it's mesmerizing!

I think I just did.
The exit was difficult enough to follow, but finding the entry point was absolutely infuriating - with good reason

Is it me or are there more than 2 loops?

Blimey - and i thought it was the effect a hole in the floor under the drivers seat would have in this weather

Am I right in thinking the AGAR is the source, and the evaporator is the exit? The "iris" is not an entry, it's just one end of a transporter from another iris on the right of it!
Also there are two balls which just loop, about 10% from the left, 25% down from the top left corner.

The Agar plate re-grows a fragment of the ball which is almost destroyed (ball splits into 4 fragments).

The evaporator does seem to destroy it.

So where is the entry point?
IMO I think the machine just above the evaporator to the left splits the ball into two, hence making new balls. Therefore there is no entry point!

This proves that there really are some people with too much time on their hands.

There isn't one. Each 100x100 block has exactly the same 3 transitions and can be tiled in any combination ad-infinitum. The blocks feed each other.

The 100x100 tiles are created incorporating this...

...(slowed down for visibility) in the first 2 frames of the 30 frame cycle.

There are going to be a lot more soon, because I saved the gif, used as a background in a mail, and mailed it to a lot of people I know - one of whom is a systems techie who will have his works team analysing it full time if I know him!!
Anyone counted how many closed loops there are?
If the AGAR is growing a fragment, then the fragment is of a ball grown in the agar, then blasted by the laser from where the fragment originates, so that's an almost closed loop surely?

stive, I completely agree. I did notice that all the balls seemed to move in synch once every cycle; I guess those are the 2 frames you refer to. I guess the sections I previously described are within one such box.

Ernest, I agree, the agar is yet another closed loop.

I'm leaving this subject before it drives me mad
(I also have to reinstall my PC - it's not been right since my ntoskrnl.exe was corrupted yesterday )
