Then throws it off cliff

We know this will find favour with a large number of Reg readers: an enraged Swiss driver has smashed a speed camera off its mountings with a pick-axe after the Gatso snapped him doing 50mph in a 30mph zone in the Swiss alpine village of La Punt Chamues-ch.

Not satified with that, he then ran the offending camera over with his car, drove it up a mountain and chucked it off a cliff, in the process successfully destroying both Gatso and film, Ananova reports.

Sadly, low-tech coppers at the scene - using the good old Mark 1 eyeball - clocked the high-altitude vigilante as he dispatched the camera into the void, and he now faces a fine of up to £13k for destruction of public property. ®

I think we should have a whip-round to pay for his defence on the grounds of improving road safety, although I'm not too sure what the eco-nutters would have to say about the cliff-throwing incident...

Jeez, he must have REALLY been cheesed off- the Swiss are the most law-abiding people in Europe. Pro-rata they are the most heavily-armed nation in the world, and nothing bad ever comes of it.
A swiss friend visited me once; empty road, visibility of half a mile in all directions, and he presses the button on the pelican crossing and waits for the green man...and waits...so I said "come on, it's clear" and he refused, and waited....etc.
A nice enough guy, but totally incapable of using common sense or a bit of lateral thinking. No exercising of judgement or discretion, just a need to rigidly observe the law.
You'll probably find he's now in the U.K., working for a pratnership........
