Can anyone find the date of introduction of the 70mph motorway speed limit (November 1965). I think we might be on the 40 year anniversary and if we are I want to get a PR out PDQ.

50/55MPH run( as an excuse) to celibrate the derating of the 70 limit during the fuel crisis -- some might remember that.

Getting people to a stunt 3 days before Christmas may be tricky. However partner’s don’t ask too many questions if they think you are on a secret shopping mission: wink:

Also the press are just as hard to motivate at this time of year. They want ready to use copy and pictures, to fill their paper so they can get to the christmas bash.

Maybe the press release shoild have a Highway Code style picture of the old Anglia and the modern car stopping distances?

I have also got some 1960's roadworks guarding manuals.

If you can find any 1960s roadworks stuff it should be in good condition - don't remember anybody actually using any more than a cone or two then
