And yet it's perfectly OK for the camera vans themselves to park on double yellow lines, pavements, bus stops and the central reservation of dual carriageways.

One rule for them, one rule for us.

Adam L:

"They park on double yellows here in sunny southend, so by the sma eor simliar token, If I park behind them on the same doubl;e yellows am I exept from parking fines? After all I wouldn't be stopping him nicking folk and if it's safe for hime to park there it should be ok for me too."

Too true !! I pulled Essex Camera Partnership up over the dangerous positioning of one of thier vans and the lack of signage over the A12 at Witham thier responses were:

The cones and signs were put up by the contractor - then bloody well get them back to do it properly!

We can suspend traffic regulations - So let me get this straight you are creating a safety hazard to control a safety hazard, I've never seen taht one in any of my safety manuals.

It's academic - that's what the NASA engineers said about an 'o' ring failure on Atlantis that was caught during prep, seven months alter Challenger blew up from the same failure!

And my favorite - What's your name and what do you know about safety - Brett Day TechSP, MIIRSM. Safety Consultant.

They put the phone down on me at that point!!

It's a good thing that it was dropped but it should never have come to court, and only srerves to make the public wary of helping the police. I for one am very cautious in dealing with the police.

And my favorite

My favourite is, "When is the last time you scraped someone off the road?"

I get this every time I question one of them.

Dorset's scam website says, regarding van positioning:

"Consideration has to be given to the personal safety of the operatives and that the location permits lawful parking of the van in the vicinity of the camera."

Though this is being used as an excuse to hide their vans :x

Hide?

All yu have to do is to drive past the mini gatso, stop in Bus Stop, and walk back up the road to easily see the van behind the huge bush on the left.

How can you call that hidden???

[/sarcasm mode]
