could the THINK ads be used alittle more productively?

Could they not say turn your fog lights off and then refer to rule 201 of the highway code?

Could they not say keep left on motorways and then refer to rule 238?

Good idea , problem is not what you say, but what you leave out.
Example - the old "dip, dont dazzle" campaign had it all in a nutshell.Get that into a catchy slogan about foglights ( fore and aft) and it might get through.

Same thing about keep left .

Bigest problem is that those needing to get the hint are least wiling/able to see the ads.
Trying not to be negative, just constructive.

Last Thursday evening I was driving up the M1 through some fairly thick but patchy fog. It was quite heartwarming to see that the fog lights of many vehicles around me came on when they hit the fog, but more importantly went off again when they left it.

And as i said in another post - some never came on , or were too dim to be seen

My gripe with the Think slogan is that most people look at it and say of course and then go back to doing whatever dum thing it was they were doing.

Slogans that educate have more impact and effect.

SSHH !!

Don't say that, I'm committing professional heresy !

And if the other half doesn't involve a good (or bad) woman I'll be surprised !

The think adverts have been abused. They could have been pretty powerful but they fell into the bad 'kill your speed not a child ways'

no way back for them I'm afraid

On the M6 in the Midlands, there are gantry signs which did mention (for a short period of time) about not hogging the middle lane. But they're back now to their usual "Don't Drink & Drive" & "Don't Use Your Phone while driving" messages.

Talking of which, something which really annoys me, is the overhead gantry lights saying QUEUE AHEAD and 40MPH etc... and when you get there, there is no need for them at all. And I'm not talking about as soon as an incident has passed - I mean these signs are on for a long period of time. Drivers on this stretch seem to totally ignore them now. Trouble is, when they really ARE needed, no-one's going to heed much...
