I'll monitor this topic (only!) while live on air.

Can you raise the point that safety camera partnerships are telling children that their personal safety is almost wholly the responsibility of motorists?

This is different than what I was taught at school - drivers do bear responsibility for driving safely, but they are not to blame for all accidents on all occasions.

Paul, how about mentioning some of the ways they are clearly out to make money? A friend of mine was caught twice on the A92 because Fife had put 2 mobile units on the same road. 2 tickets from the same partnership on the same journey.

If he was dangerous why wasn't he stopped? The siting of the cameras was obviously tacitly approving speeding while maximising revenues at the same time.

Paul about vehicles being safer, Hgv's have never been safer in design. Yet they still have that stupid 40 mph speed limit for them on single carriageways. Before the cameras police used to ignore Hgv's doing 50 mph. The SCP's don't, the police obversely thought we were safe I will admit it is a pet hate of mine. Getting 3 points and £60 for doing 49mph at 4.16 in the morning. Atb Derek.

The first triggered my car's EBA (Electronic Brake Assistance) when a traffic light turned amber because I was scared of triggering the camera. It was a very scary incident and I am glad there was not a vehicle behind me.

I had plenty of room to slow down and only braked so quickly because of fear of getting prossecuted.

There is a red light camera I drive through regularly and I have seen 2 cars going through it when it was red. They were turning right and the camera does not monitor the right turn lane!

Ask Mike to listen to some other viewpoints - the show is sounding very one-sided at the moment (although perhaps no pro-camera people are calling)

It's always a problem to get pro camera viewpoints. We'd welcome such calls. Honestly. We did have one...

How about the Spanish habit of setting traffic lights in villages to turn red if you are seen to be exceeding the limit on the way in? You only catch a red light if are speeding. No points, slower traffic, peer pressure encourages compliance.

Or even them signs that flash up if you exceed the limit. They work better then cameras. They work for me, I do take notice and slow down. Trouble is for the SCP, they don't make money. Atb Derek.
