I'm interested in getting a camera installed in my car, for two reasons:

*Evidence in case of an accident that I wasn't doing anything stupid
*So that I may replay my driving after I've done something I wasn't happy with and try to work out what I could have done better

Does anyone have any suggestions? There's plenty of ways of doing this for two hours or less at a time with a laptop spare (!), but any sensible ways of doing this for longer periods would be much appreciated - dedicated hardware would be the best, and less than £200 would be lovely...

Presumably the best way would be some software that throws away the video after, say, half an hour so you get a rolling recording.

If you have an accident or do something stupid that you want to keep, you can then copy it to a safe place and review the last half hour.

There was another thread about this somewhere, and someone pointed out that they had written suitible software but wanted to check the legality of it before making it available.

The only problem I can see is that digital recordings might not be admissible.

I see where you're going - it ought to be fairly trivial to write some software that would record on a 30 minute circular basis, but that would require a laptop (or for me to learn a fair bit about embedded programming) - ideally though I'm looking for some sort of equipment specialised to the goal.

But thank's for the help anyway ;)

Not quite to your budget - but this should do what you want I think?
