Read recently a lot of talk about merging police forces - some were for it some were against -
Now they're going to be merged ,whether they want to or not --

FIFTEEN police forces will be merged into four regional super bodies, Home Secretary Charles Clarke announced said yesterday.

He said authorities with less than 4,000 officers were not viable
seemore

Now ,what is going to happen to the pratnerships - and will Durham's safety record go down the drain?

Interesting how Clarke is so sure!!! He hasn't even had the meeting with Chief Constables that will enable them to raise concerns etc.

Charles Clarke is a lowlife scumbag who is quite simply a dinosaur from the old school of Labour.

Dont hold back Johno - just say what you mean

I am in complete agreement with you !
He urged forces to consider a range of alternatives - then is going to impose his choice whether they like it or not!
Worse still we are going to have to pay for this fiasco, which despite his assertions, is going to cost a packet!

He's as bad as Blunkett and twice as ugly!

Whats going to happen to the top brass - e.g in midlands - Staffs/warks /west mercia moving to west midlands ??(does that mean merging with west mids) --3 sets of top brass put out to grass = a heck of a lot of redundancy money , or is it going to be like (Burbeck said)
"And he also set out his plans to create a Commander for Coventry and Warwickshire who would be accountable to the community. "

I.E. another layer of expensive top brass for the tax payer to cough up for.

]more jobs for the boys?[/url]

Case of - costs us if they go - costs us if they stay.
And in Wales - same thing --
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/4688350.stm

"He(Ian Roberts, chair of the North Wales Police Authority,) said: "I think local accountability would be the main one and north Wales having its own regional board. I think that would make a vast difference to a lot of people."

Now i wonder if this was what the idea behind pooling reciepts from the scamerati was about ??
