To the best of my knowledge, at least ostensibly, road traffic laws are there in the interest of safety - how about introducing a statutory defence that whatever you did could reasonably have expected to have been safe

(reasonably expected because one could drive on the right hand side of the road around a blind right hander and claim that it was safe because you didn’t actually hit anything on that particular occasion; conversely if someone rounds the bend in some bizzare combination of Thrust SSC and a Formula 1 car at 450 mph it's probably reasonable not to anticipate the crash that occurs)

Hi sounds good to me. Presumed innocent UNTIL proved guilty. Should we remove the statutary speed limits instead.

No need to remove them - if you're breaking them safely then no crime is commited :wink:
