On an August morning in 1978, French filmmaker Claude Lelouch mounted a gyro-stabilized camera to the bumper of a Ferrari 275 GTB and had a friend, a professional Formula 1 racer, drive at breakneck speed through the heart of Paris. The film was limited for technical reasons to 10 minutes; the course was from Porte Dauphine, through the Louvre, to the Basilica of Sacre Coeur.

No streets were closed, for Lelouch was unable to obtain a permit.

The driver completed the course in about 9 minutes, reaching nearly 140 MPH in some stretches. The footage reveals him running red lights, nearly hitting pedestrians, and driving the wrong way up one-way streets to meet someone at the end.

Upon showing the film in public for the first time, Lelouch was arrested. He has never revealed the identity of the driver, and the film went underground until a DVD release a few years ago.

There are a lot of these floating around. Most ofthem are called 'Getaway in..."

'Getaway in Paris', 'Getaway in Stockholm' and so on.

The "Getaway in Stockholm" is down fairly & squarely to Ghostrider, and let's face it......aside from the obvious danger aspect to himself, he shows the so called "trained police drivers" for the amateurs that they are in reality where driving skills are concerned.

PS
Paul, not that I really give a s*it, but how long does the old "final warning" b*llocks last for?

Indeed, I agree!

Its (almost) like when they used to brand thieves across the forehead in medieval times when they stole a farmers sheep.

LOL, just one small point....I haven't directed one single insulting word at you at all (it all went on a much more deserving cause  ).

Final - I'd take the third description - it isn't very final if it only last a week.

How long have you been called Paul?

When I want your opinion then I'll give it to you!

General chat or not, the orginal question was directed at Paul, and Paul's reply was directed at me.

We both know your name isn't Paul, so let's leave it there before you end up biting off more than you can chew eh?

I'm sure I heard two, but what a lovely sound track or am I just a PH.

"No pigeons were harmed in the making of this film." but some had a narrow escape and I'm sure I saw a startled pedestrian at one point.

"Final Warning" the new block buster film, from the producers of "Independance Day" and the writers of "The Day After Tomorrow".... coming soon to a cinema near you!

The story of one mans struggle to obtain the freedom to express himself in the manner to which he is accustomed...

Really, I rather thought we were hoping to achieve the same goal - a sensible road safety policy in Britain, and of course we all have different ideas on how this would be best achieved.

There are times when it is best to bite your tongue or bide your time, and sometimes you need to shout to be heard. Personally, the sooner the final warning is removed the better, because it puts pressure on Paul to go one stage further because of a comment which would pass under other any other circumstances, and I for one would not wish to lose members who over a long period of time have made many valid contributions to our debates.
Lets get back to debating the issues which Safespeed stands for instead of each other!
