Hi all,
Ever since an old railway line near out house was opened out to be a cycle track (part of the national network) we have had an increasing problem of vandalism, drunken youths/undesirables hanging about and NEDS on motorbikes tearing along the track, and our road, at undesirable speeds. There is usually kids playing on our street and people walking and on push bikes on the cycletrack so that is, of course, the primary concern apart from it being just a pain in the arse!
When the track was proposed everyone was up in arms and protested against it, needless to say underhand tactics and Councillors being bribed won over local democracy. There was rumour that the local councillor at the time was in cahoots with Scottish power as they wanted an access road to install new urban power lines up behind the track, whether that is true or not I do not know?
As the neds on bikes has become an epidemic in the last few years residents have been urged to phone the community warden to report it (they never answer phone) or the Police who are now saying there is no point reporting it now because by the time they send up officers they little shitehawks will have gone. Our understanding was that it was just to report it so they have a record of it

We know they won't catch them there and then!!
These bikes are unlicensed, uninsured and all the rest and there is bound to be an accident (hopefully only them hurting themselves

), but if it involves a kid on the street being hit who will then be responsible?
It is being reporting each and every time and I don't care how many times a day it has to be done. Ironically, the access to the track now has to be left open for disabled access so the bikes can easily get on.
I wonder if anyone on here has had a similar problem in their area and have had any success in putting a stop to this behaviour or even reducing it?
Regards
Andrew
