I was thinking about this not so long ago and if I remember correctly money from speeding fines goes into more cameras and, supposedly, other safety things.

Surely if speed cameras are so good for safety then shouldn't they have been funded through taxation (e.g. road/petrol tax)?

if speed cameras were that good then the more of them there were the less income they would generate.

However it seems the opposite is true ergo cameras = crap

maybe thats why they are going to grant funding, due to falling numbers maybe because people are slowing down

As I understand it the number of automated speeding fines has gone up year on year, I'd be happy to be proved wrong.

I think the real reason for the switch is that they realised that the public were waking up to the scam and by going this way, although still doing nothing for nothing but appearing to do something, it makes it seem less like a money making scheme.

So why aren't the KSI figures drastically falling then......perhaps because speeding is a minor part of the problem?
