This is from HonestJohn's column:

I read the recent letter from R.C. about the London Ambulance Service blaming speed humps for 500 deaths a year. If this is the case then the coroners for the local jurisdictions must be informed, because the death cannot be attributed to natural causes and therefore needs investigation as per the Coroners Act.
It might be difficult to prove that a death was attributable to the installation of speed humps, but if enough cases are flagged for the coroner's attention he might decide to call an inquest and hear evidence from local authority traffic management teams. Interestingly, a coroner must write to the appropriate authority or organisation if, in his opinion, the circumstances of a death can be prevented in future.

This is interesting information, for which many thanks. This could be the best way of getting rid of the things and might prevent vested interests from concealing the truth.
The question is could the same logic be applied to cameras and their failure to reduce deaths and distract the authorities from real life saving solutions?
