In view of recent comments I feel it is important to make a clear statements regarding road user groups and forum member's rights. It was claimed that 'anti-truck' sentiments had been expressed. Franky I have not seen any such thing.

I tried to defuse claims of 'anti-truck' sentiment with a little light humour. As it turns out this was ill-judged and misunderstood. I have apologised to shaky by PM.

The following points apply to all forum users.

- All road user groups are equally welcome

- The Safe Speed campaign wishes to promote co-operation and understanding between all road user groups.

- Intolerance of a road user group won't be tolerated

- Forum members and the forum collective deserve to be treated with respect. Needless insults will not be tolerated.

- Arguments based on ad hominem are banned under forum rules

- There are good and bad in all road user groups, and as far as we can tell the proportions are fairly similar across modes.

If posts are seen as being anti-any-particular-road user group then I wish to be informed.

So let's keep it friendly and co-operative, exhibiting exactly the same standards of courtesy and consideration that we all wish to enjoy on the roads.

Well said Paul, lets not allow good honest debate be marred by silly antics, and needless chatter.

Paul was big enough to lay down the gaunlet, so I'll be true to my word and apologise to any member that felt I was out of order...

Hopefully that will stop comments along the lines of "most car drivers are :censored: wits"

Re buses, the problems they sometimes cause result from official policies such as filling in bus-stop lay-bys, not from bus drivers themselves.

For just a minute I read that as "silly ARTICS", and had a vision of a 32 tonner done out like a clown car, with doors that drop off!

I have nothing against caravans... just the few selfish morons that make life a misery for others due to their incompetant driving style while towing one! But that goes for ALL groups I suppose!

OK, so drivers with National Trust stickers in the back window...... and flat caps!

Imagine the scene where large numbers of clowns climb out of the typical two seater clown car thanks to it being parked over a hidden trap door in the floor

with a clown artic you'd have about 500 illegal immigrants in clown suits crawling out from under the trailer, then the driver would get fined for being overloaded

so long as when overtaking cyclists you understand its 2foot wider than your car and cuts the corners.

I have started a 'trucking' forum today. It'll be the best place to discuss truck / hgv / large vehicle issues, and I hope it sends a VERY clear signal that truckers are most welcome here.

I've also launched a motorcycling forum, which is something I intended to do some time ago, but never got around to.

In my experience, the vast majority of HGV drivers are careful, considerate and polite drivers.

There are always exceptions, but a lot of car drivers are in no position to throw stones :D

Can we have a forum for drivers of bog-standard 2WD cars of 2.0 litres or below? :D

Yes, of course, right after we need one for horse drawn chariot racing. :hehe:

It could be useful to discuss how horse-drawn vehicle racers are being singled out. It's rather unfair. They'll be installing chariot-racing cameras next.
(I'm sorry, you reminded me of that sign!)
