Yesterday's "MEN" - heartwarming story. All not lost! Wow... a stand for the cause of what Wildy calls "all matters speedy"
Alan Salter reports.
Quote:
For one day only - traffic on Deansgate will rise above walking pace.
Grand Prix motors will be roaring past John Rylands Library, House of Fraser and the Town Hall
Eat yer heart out Monte Carlo...
A week today - AiGP race series will line-up on the city streets for a demonstration of a speedy race in a three day FREE Sky Festival.
Starts next Friday - race paddock will be opened in the Exchange Square.
Race starts in Corporation Street and they will be at 70 mph by the time they reach Cross Street - braking hard at the cornerinto Princess Street - and a hair pin right series into Lloyd Streetpast the Town Hall and another sharp right into Deansgate where speeds will get up to 70 mph Circuit is one mile
These cars can get to 200 mph without a blink - but this is a town centre which will draw the crowds so they have limited to 70 mph
People? 70 mph? Er.. speed .. .speed ...speed
I note there will be emergency run-offs and first aiders all over the place per the paper report on page three.
I think we might have a day trip down to the 'burb for this!
Now I think this makes up for nude nonsense and let's claim the road back for cars now!
Sorry cycling lurks.. tis but the boyish thrilling prospect of seeing proper cars driven at proper speeds -
in a
town centre .

I am all excited at thought of having a drool

over these marvellous machines anyway .
